Purpose

This interactive skill based training is designed for people with no previous travel workplace experience using a GDS who wish to work in operations areas of the Industry. Travel Agents Computer Reservations Systems (CRS) are also known as GDS (Global Distribution System). They are used for booking a range of travel products and services. This interactive course turns your PC or MAC into a simulated GDS, and you will learn how to check for product availability (airline seats, hotel rooms and car rental vehicles). You will learn to encode and decode the world's airports, cities, aircraft, airlines and more. You will also learn to check for availability of airline seats, hotel rooms and car rental vehicles, build full reservations, then retrieve them, amend them and cancel them. Next you will learn to quote airfares, read and interpret airfare rules, issue e-tickets for clients and a host of other formats and procedures.

This interactive course could help you secure a position in working for an airline in the Reservations or Fares & Ticketing department, a Ticket Consolidator, Tour Operator or as a Travel Agent Travel Consultant. The knowledge you gain on this course underpins effective performance in many sectors of the industry.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements to enrol in this course however keyboard skills are necessary for employemnt in the travel industry. A good level of English will also help.

Minimum system requirements are:
Broadband internet connection
Recommended Pentium 4 or higher computer with 256mb RAM
Monitor at 1024 x 768 resolution or higher
Internet Explorer 6.1 and higher or Firefox 1.5 and higher (Firefox 2.0+ recommended)

Qualification Requirements

Upon successful completion of this course you will be emailed your electronic certificate. This unit can be used as credit towards the SIT30116 Certificate III in Tourism.

Assessment Requirements

Progressive online training with optional certification on completion of course.
