Due to ongoing COVID restrictions and lockdowns, we are offering our barista course online (for the theory component), so you can complete the boring stuff at home during lockdown, and then have longer doing the hands on fun stuff when we can all meet again.
Whether you're searching for your first barista job, or you're an existing cafe employee looking to improve your skills and gain a nationally recognised statement of attainment - this is the course for you! Offered at the Macarthur Centre for Sustainable Living, this course teaches you the skills required to be a great barista.
The online theory component is self-paced and should take around 5 hours to complete.
The practical component is 7.5 hours (1 full day)
You must be 14 years old or more to participate in this course.
On completion of this course you will be awarded a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment. This qualification provides a pathway to work in cafes and coffee shops, or to further study in the Certificate III of Tourism or Hospitality.
You will be assessed by trainers with the relevant qualifications in accordance with the Australian Qualifications Skills Authority (ASQA). This assessment will take the form of direct observation of practical tasks and written questioning which will take place online.
The practical component is delivered face-to-face at the Macarthur Centre for Sustainable Living. Class sizes are kept small to give you the maximum time possible practicing to make great coffee.
The online theory is delivered on our e-learning platform.
