Purpose

Through a combination of online theory and a 12 week internship program at Ottimo House in Denham Court NSW, this program provides learners with the skills and knowledge required to perform event management processes and to coordinate event operations. This qualification provides a pathway to work in event management companies, event venues, or organisations that arrange their own events. Work could be undertaken in an office environment where the planning of events takes place on-site at venues, where events are staged, or a combination of both. This qualification reflects the role of individuals who use a broad range of event-related skills and sound knowledge of event management processes to coordinate event operations. They operate independently and make operational event management decisions.

Events are diverse in nature and this qualification provides a pathway to work for event or exhibition organisations operating in a range of industries, including the tourism and travel, hospitality, sport, cultural, and community sectors.

The diversity of employers includes event or exhibition management companies, event venues, or organisations that organise their own events. Work could be undertaken in an office environment where the planning of events takes place, on-site at venues where events are staged or a combination of both.

Duration

The program is designed to be completed within 12-18 months; however, the online component is self-paced and flexible. The internship component is conducted over a 12 week period.

Entry Requirements

There are no entry requirements to enrol into this course, however you will need to complete your Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certificate in order to participate in the internship component of the course.

Assessment Requirements

The assessment is conducted using a combination of workplace tasks, projects, knowledge tests, response to case studies and feedback from supervisors. Some units have a mandatory practical assessment that will be carried out whilst on work placement or on-the-job.

Delivery Mode

Online for theory component + 12 weeks internship (20 hours per week) at Ottimo House in Denham Court NSW (Macarthur region).

Materials or Equipment Required

Learners will need access to a computer/tablet/laptop that has capabilities to connect to the internet.
