Purpose

Whether you're searching for your first barista job, or you're an existing cafe employee looking to improve your skills and gain a nationally recognised statement of attainment - this is the course for you! Offered at the Macarthur Centre for Sustainable Living, this course teaches you the skills required to be a great barista with a twist. As well as learning all about making great coffee, you will learn how to do it in an environmentally friendly way, so that we can all enjoy coffee for many years to come!

Career Pathways

This qualification provides a pathway to work in cafes and coffee shops, or to further study in the Certificate III of Tourism or Hospitality.

7.5 hours (1 full day)
9am - 4.30pm

Entry Requirements

You must be over 14 years of age to participate in this course. You must also have a USI (Unique Student Identifier). A USI is your individual education number for life. It also gives you an online record of your vocational education and training (VET) undertaken in Australia.

As you're doing nationally recognised training, you will need a USI. We can't issue your qualification or statement of attainment until you provide us with your USI. If you don't hold a USI yet or can't remember your number, go to https://www.usi.gov.au/ before enrolling.

Qualification Requirements

Upon successful completion of this course you will be emailed your electronic certificate and awarded a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment.

Assessment Requirements

You will be assessed by trainers with the relevant qualifications in accordance with the Australian Qualifications Skills Authority (ASQA). This assessment will take the form of direct observation of practical tasks and written questioning which will take place throughout the day.

Delivery Mode

This course is delivered face-to-face at the Macarthur Centre for Sustainable Living. Class sizes are kept small to give you the maximum time possible practicing to make great coffee. Please note that if minimum enrolment numbers are not met your scheduled course may be cancelled. If this occurs you will be offered a full refund or the option to move your enrolment to the next available course.

Materials or Equipment Required

You should wear enclosed leather shoes and bring a pen. The cost of the course also includes a light lunch.

Notes

When enrolling into this course your contact information will be shared with the Macarthur Centre for Sustainable Living (MCSL). Both MTTEC and MCSL may also record or photograph parts of the training workshop for promotional reasons. Please advise your trainer if you do not give permission for your image to be used.

If you are unwell and unable to attend you may transfer to another date if you provide at least 24 hours notice. As lunch is catered and trainers are booked based on numbers, any cancellation under 24 hours will be deemed non-refundable.
