Purpose

This program provides learners with skills and knowledge required to perform event management processes and to coordinate event operations. This qualification provides a pathway to work in event management companies, event venues, or organisations that organise their own events. Work could be undertaken in an office environment where the planning of events takes place on-site at venues, where events are staged, or a combination of both. This qualification reflects the role of individuals who use a broad range of event-related skills and sound knowledge of event management processes to coordinate event operations. They operate independently and make operational event management decisions.

Career Pathways

Events are diverse in nature and this qualification provides a pathway to work for event or exhibition organisations operating in a range of industries, including the tourism and travel, hospitality, sport, cultural, and community sectors.

The diversity of employers includes event or exhibition management companies, event venues, or organisations that organise their own events. Work could be undertaken in an office environment where the planning of events takes place, on-site at venues where events are staged or a combination of both.

Duration

The program is designed to be completed within 18 months; however, the online component is self-paced and flexible.

Entry Requirements

There are no entry requirements to enrol into this course. However, MTTEC recommends prior knowledge in the tourism or events industry is advantageous.

We recommend that you have:
•Completed Year 12, OR
•A nationally recognised qualification at the Certificate III level or higher, OR some work experience in this industry

Assessment Requirements

The assessment is conducted using a combination of workplace tasks, projects, knowledge tests, response to case studies and feedback from supervisors. Some units have a mandatory practical assessment that will be carried out whilst on work placement or on-the-job.

Learners will need access to a computer/tablet/laptop that has capabilities to connect to the internet.
