Why do we collect your personal information?
As a Registered Training Organisation (RTO), we are obliged to collect your personal information to successfully manage and process your enrolment in a VET course with us. This information is essential for us to comply with the Data Provision Requirements 2012 and other regulatory requirements mandated by the Commonwealth and State. If we can’t collect your personal information, we won’t be able to proceed with your enrolment.
How we use your personal information
Your personal information is utilised to facilitate the delivery of VET courses to you and to fulfil our obligations as a RTO.
How we disclose your personal information
We are mandated to disclose the personal information we collect from you to the National VET Data Collection maintained by the National Centre for Vocational Education Research Ltd (NCVER). The NCVER is responsible for analysing, managing and communicating research and statistics about the Australian VET sector.
Third Parties
We aim to collect your Personal Information directly from you whenever it is reasonable and practical. However, there may be instances where we receive information from third parties. In such cases, we will take reasonable steps to inform you about the information provided to us by the third party.
Security of Personal Information
We take reasonable measures to store your personal information securely and protect it from loss, misuse, unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. Once your personal information is no longer required for the purpose for which it was collected, we will take reasonable steps to destroy or permanently de-identify it. However, we maintain most of the personal information in client files, which we will retain for a minimum period of 3 years or as legally required.
How the NCVER and other bodies handle your personal information
The NCVER will collect, hold, use and disclose your personal information per the law, including the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (Privacy Act) and the NVETR Act. Your personal information may be used and disclosed by NCVER for purposes that include developing certified VET transcripts; administration of VET; facilitation of statistics and research relating to education, including surveys and data linkage; and understanding the VET market.
The NCVER is authorised to disclose information to the Australian Government Department of Employment and Workplace Relations (DEWR), Commonwealth authorities, and State and Territory authorities (other than registered training organisations) that deal with matters relating to VET and VET regulators for those bodies, including to enable:
– administering VET programs, such as program administration, regulation, monitoring, and evaluation.
– facilitation of statistics and research relating to education, including surveys and data linkage.
– knowledge of how the VET market operates, for policy, workforce planning and consumer information.
The NCVER may disclose personal information to individuals engaged in research on their behalf.
The NCVER does not intend to disclose your personal information to any overseas recipients.

The Department of Employment and Workplace Relations (DEWR) is authorised by law, including the Privacy Act and the NVETR Act, to collect, use, and disclose your personal information for specified functions and activities. Direct Marketing
Direct marketing refers to the use or disclosure of personal information (excluding sensitive information) to communicate directly with an individual to promote goods and services. MTTEC will not disclose any personal information that it holds for direct marketing unless an exception is applicable. In cases where MTTEC is authorised to use or disclose your personal information for direct marketing, we will always provide you with an option to request not to receive direct marketing communications, also known as “opting out,” and we must comply with your request.
Surveys
You may be contacted for a student survey by a government department or an authorised agency, including an NCVER employee, agent, or third-party contractor. Please note that you have the option to opt out of the survey at the time of being contacted.
