Purpose

This qualification reflects the role of highly skilled senior operators who use a broad range of tourism or travel skills combined with managerial skills and sound knowledge of industry operations to coordinate travel or tourism operations. They operate independently, have responsibility for others, and make a range of operational business decisions.

Career Pathways

This program provides learners with the skills and knowledge required to perform managerial processes, coordinate tourism and travel operations, or marketing and product development activities.

On completion of this qualification, possible job titles include; manager of:

- inbound groups
- inbound sales
- incentives
- tour operations
- marketing
- operations
- reservations
- retail travel agency

Duration

The program is designed to be completed within 18 months; however, the online component is self-paced and flexible.

Entry Requirements

* Sufficient language, literacy and numeracy skills to complete the course
* Basic computer skills
* Knowledge of common computing terms and word processing
* Proficiency sending/receiving e-mail including e-mail with attachment
* Familiarity with the Internet

MTTEC also recommends prior knowledge in the tourism or events industry is advantageous.

We recommend that you have:
• Completed Year 12, OR
• A nationally recognised qualification at the Certificate III level or higher, OR
some work experience in this industry

Qualification Requirements

This qualification provides a pathway to work in any sector of the tourism and travel industry as departmental or small business manager.

Assessment Requirements

You will be assessed online using a variety of tasks to assess your understanding and skills. A virtual session means you will be one on one with your assessor either answering questions or taking part in a role play. Other assessment methods include written activities, cases studies, and projects that could involve writing a report.

Delivery Mode

Online via an interactive e-learning platform. We also support you via email, phone and zoom throughout your studies. Upon successful completion of this course you will be emailed your electronic certificate.

Materials or Equipment Required

Operating System: Windows 7 or higher (recommended); MAC OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) or higher (recommended)
CPU: Min. of 2 GB of RAM, Min. of 2 GB of spare disk space is recommended
Processor: 2.0 GHz processor or higher (32-bit or 64-bit)
Monitor with at least 1024x768 screen resolution
Internet access: Minimum ADSL1 with a speed of at least 3 Mbps
Headset (or speakers and microphone) and webcam
Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher) or similar software
